Nicholau is a Partner with Adams & Sasse LLP, representing clients in estate planning, probate, and trust administration matters. Nick worked as a Senior Trust Administrator at Mechanics Bank for five years upon receiving an undergraduate degree in Political Science from UC Berkeley. He received a J.D. with a Certificate of Specialization with Distinction in Taxation Law from Golden Gate University in 2012, and went on to receive an LL.M. in Taxation, with honors, in 2013. Before entering private practice, Nick was a clerk for the Honorable Marshall Whitley, Alameda County Superior Court. He then joined Osterloh & Orta, LLP in 2013, where he worked on a wide array of estate planning, probate, and trust administration client matters. Having been trained by the partners of Osterloh & Orta to take over that firm’s client matters, Nick cofounded Adams & Sasse LLP with Linn Schulte-Sasse in 2016. Nick’s unique professional and educational background in estate planning, tax, trust administration, and trustee work bring a practical and big picture approach to problem solving. He is a member of East Bay Trusts & Estates Lawyers, the Alameda County Bar Association, the American Bar Association, and the California Bar Association Trust and Estates Section.
Born and raised in the East Bay, Nick lives in Oakland with his wife, Lydia, and their two sons.
